]]]] LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO ]]]] Fifty-ninth Legislature First Regular Session - 2007IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE BILL NO. 226 BY EDUCATION COMMITTEE 1 AN ACT 2 RELATING TO SUPPLEMENTAL AID TO SCHOOL DISTRICTS; AMENDING CHAPTER 10, TITLE 3 33, IDAHO CODE, BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION 33-1020, IDAHO CODE, TO 4 PROVIDE FOR DISTRIBUTION OF SUPPLEMENTAL AID TO ELIGIBLE SCHOOL DISTRICTS 5 FROM AN APPROPRIATION MADE FOR THAT PURPOSE. 6 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 7 SECTION 1. That Chapter 10, Title 33, Idaho Code, be, and the same is 8 hereby amended by the addition thereto of a NEW SECTION, to be known and des- 9 ignated as Section 33-1020, Idaho Code, and to read as follows: 10 33-1020. SUPPLEMENTAL AID. (1) The legislature may appropriate funds to 11 provide supplemental aid to school districts. School districts with a value 12 index above nine-tenths (0.9) shall not be eligible to receive supplemental 13 aid. Such funds as may be appropriated may be used at the discretion of the 14 school district, and shall be calculated as follows: 15 (a) Divide one (1) by the school district's value index; 16 (b) Determine the weighted support units by multiplying the quotient com- 17 puted in (1)(a) of this section by the school district's support units, 18 using the best twenty-eight (28) weeks of attendance; and 19 (c) Each eligible school district's share of the appropriated funds shall 20 be determined by the proportion that each eligible school district's 21 weighted support units bear to the whole of eligible school districts. 22 (2) For the purposes of this section, the value index used shall consist 23 of the three (3) value index factors calculated pursuant to section 33-906B, 24 Idaho Code, except that each factor shall be weighted equally. 25 (3) Distributions of supplemental aid to eligible school districts shall 26 be made pursuant to section 33-1009, Idaho Code.
REPRINT REPRINT REPRINT REPRINT STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 16997 This legislation creates a new section of Idaho Code for supplemental aid for support of eligible school districts. The index used for distribution for this aid will be based upon unemployment, per capita income, and market value. FISCAL NOTE There is no impact to the general fund until the appropriation is made.
