  1                                        AN ACT
  2    RELATING TO THE POW-MIA FLAG; AMENDING CHAPTER 8, TITLE 67, IDAHO CODE, BY THE
  3        ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION 67-821, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE THAT THE GOVERNOR
  4        SHALL DIRECT THAT THE POW-MIA FLAG SHALL BE DISPLAYED DAILY  AT THE  STATE
  5        CAPITOL,  IDAHO  STATE  VETERANS CEMETERIES AND IDAHO STATE VETERANS HOMES
  6        AND TO PROVIDE THAT THE POW-MIA FLAG MAY BE FLOWN AT OTHER STATE OR  LOCAL
  7        GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS.
                                                                        
  8    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
                                                                        
  9        SECTION  1.  That  Chapter  8,  Title  67, Idaho Code, be, and the same is
 10    hereby amended by the addition thereto of a NEW SECTION, to be known and  des-
 11    ignated as Section 67-821, Idaho Code, and to read as follows:
                                                                        
 12        67-821.  POW-MIA  FLAG.  The  governor  shall direct that the POW-MIA flag
 13    shall be displayed daily at the state capitol, Idaho state veterans cemeteries
 14    and Idaho state veterans homes in honor of those men and women who  have  ever
 15    suffered the deprivations of captivity and those who continue to be missing in
 16    action  or  are prisoners of war. The POW-MIA flag may be flown at other state
 17    or local government buildings.

                       STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

                            RS 17075

This legislation requires the Governor to direct that the POW-MIA
flag be displayed daily at the State Capitol, Idaho State
Veterans' cemeteries and Idaho State Veterans' homes.  The
legislation allows but not directs that the POW-MIA may be flown
at other state or local government buildings.


                          FISCAL IMPACT

There may be a small fiscal impact associated with the purchase
of the flags and associated equipment to display the flag.
