                                     HOUSE BILL NO. 407

                          BY RESOURCES AND CONSERVATION COMMITTEE

  1                                        AN ACT
  2    RELATING TO LOG SCALING; AMENDING SECTION 38-1204, IDAHO CODE, TO REVISE QUAL-
  3        IFICATION PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE STATE BOARD OF SCALING PRACTICES.

  4    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

  5        SECTION 1.  That Section 38-1204, Idaho Code, be, and the same  is  hereby
  6    amended to read as follows:

  7        38-1204.  QUALIFICATIONS.  Appointive  members of the board shall be citi-
  8    zens of the United States and residents of this state,  and  they  shall  have
  9    been  regularly  engaged in the timber products industry for at least five (5)
 10    years, and at least two (2) of whom shall have had experience in or  knowledge
 11    of the practice of scaling.

                     STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

                           RS 17336

The availability of potential appointees having former log 
scaling experience is extremely limited.  Amending the statute 
will broaden the qualifications requirements and enable the 
appointment of board members having either experience or 
familiarity with log scaling practices.
