  1                                        AN ACT
  2    RELATING TO HIGHWAYS; AMENDING CHAPTER 5, TITLE 40, IDAHO CODE, BY  THE  ADDI-
  3        TION  OF  A  NEW SECTION 40-513C, IDAHO CODE, TO DESIGNATE THAT PORTION OF
  4        INTERSTATE HIGHWAY I-90 LOCATED IN IDAHO  AS  THE  IDAHO  PORTION  OF  THE
  5        NATIONAL PURPLE HEART TRAIL.

  6    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

  7        SECTION  1.  That  Chapter  5,  Title  40, Idaho Code, be, and the same is
  8    hereby amended by the addition thereto of a NEW SECTION, to be known and  des-
  9    ignated as Section 40-513C, Idaho Code, and to read as follows:

 10        40-513C.  DESIGNATION  OF  PURPLE  HEART TRAIL. That portion of interstate
 11    highway I-90 located in Idaho is the Idaho  portion  of  the  national  purple
 12    heart  trail.  The  Idaho transportation department shall design and construct
 13    signs indicating the highway number,  the  designation  as  the  purple  heart
 14    trail,  and  any  other appropriate information.  The department shall erect a
 15    sign at each end of the highway and markers at intermediate  sites  along  the
 16    highway  that  the  department  determines  are appropriate. The department is
 17    required to design, construct, and erect the signs and  markers  only  to  the
 18    extent  that  moneys  are provided for this purpose through private donations,
 19    grants, awards or other moneys.

                       STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

                             RS 17869

This legislation will amend Chapter 5, Title 40, Idaho Code, by
adding a new section which will designate a portion of Interstate
I-90 located in Idaho as Idaho's portion of the National Purple
Heart Trail.


                           FISCAL NOTE       

There is no fiscal impact.  The Idaho Transportation Department
will not expend any state funds required to design, construct,
erect signs and markers but use moneys provided for this purpose
through private donations, grants, awards or other moneys.
