  1                                        AN ACT
  2    APPROPRIATING MONEYS TO THE SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION/STATE DEPART-
  3        MENT OF EDUCATION FOR FISCAL YEAR 2009; LIMITING THE NUMBER  OF  FULL-TIME
  4        EQUIVALENT  POSITIONS;  AND  EXPRESSING  LEGISLATIVE INTENT WITH REGARD TO
  5        DATA WAREHOUSE ACTIVITIES.

  6    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

  7        SECTION 1.  There is hereby appropriated to the Superintendent  of  Public
  8    Instruction/State Department of Education the following amounts to be expended
  9    according  to  the  designated  expense  classes from the listed funds for the
 10    period July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009:

 37        SECTION 2.  In accordance with Section  67-3519,  Idaho  Code,  the  State
 38    Department  of  Education  is  authorized no more than one hundred twenty-five
 39    (125) full-time equivalent positions at any point during the  period  July  1,
 40    2008,  through  June 30, 2009, unless specifically authorized by the Governor.
 41    The Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee will be notified  promptly  of  any
 42    increased positions so authorized.

  1        SECTION 3.  Regarding the development of a longitudinal data warehouse for
  2    public  education, it is the intent of the Legislature that the Superintendent
  3    of Public Instruction request the assistance  of  the  Information  Technology
  4    Resource  Management Council (ITRMC) to review and provide input on the devel-
  5    opment of requests for proposals (RFP) and other  data  warehouse  development
  6    activities.

This is the Fiscal Year 2009 appropriation for the Superintendent of Public Instruction/State Department of Education, in the amount of $25,761,000. This appropriation limits the Superintendent of Public Instruction to no more than 125.00 FTEs.
