]]]] LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO ]]]] Fifty-ninth Legislature Second Regular Session - 2008IN THE SENATE SENATE BILL NO. 1515 BY FINANCE COMMITTEE 1 AN ACT 2 RELATING TO APPROPRIATIONS FOR CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECKS; APPROPRIAT- 3 ING ADDITIONAL MONEYS TO THE SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION FOR FIS- 4 CAL YEAR 2009; AND APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL MONEYS TO THE IDAHO STATE 5 POLICE FOR THE SUPPORT SERVICES PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 2009. 6 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 7 SECTION 1. In addition to any other appropriation provided by law, there 8 is hereby appropriated to the Superintendent of Public Instruction, the fol- 9 lowing amount to be expended according to the designated expense class from 10 the listed fund for the period July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009, for the 11 purpose of criminal history background checks for certain individuals who will 12 have unsupervised contact with students in a public school setting: 13 FOR: 14 Operating Expenditures $64,000 15 FROM: 16 Public Instruction Fund $64,000 17 SECTION 2. In addition to any other appropriation provided by law, there 18 is hereby appropriated to the Idaho State Police for the Support Services Pro- 19 gram the following amount to be expended according to the designated expense 20 class from the listed fund for the period July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009, 21 for the purpose of expanded criminal history background checks: 22 FOR: 23 Operating Expenditures $46,800 24 FROM: 25 Miscellaneous Revenue Fund $46,800

This is the trailer appropriation to H566a, which expands the current employee criminal history background checks for individuals who will have unsupervised contact with students in public school settings.
 
| Fiscal Note |
This bill increases spending authority to the Superintendent of Public Instruction from the Public Instruction fund in the amount of $32,000 in one-time dedicated funding and $32,000 in ongoing dedicated funding for a total of $64,000.
This bill also provides ongoing dedicated funding of $23,400 and one-time dedicated funding of $23,400 to the Idaho State Police to cover their costs in conducting these additional criminal history background checks.
Individuals subjected to the background check are required to pay a $40.00 fee. Of this fee, the Superintendent will retain $10.75 and the Idaho State Police will be paid $29.25, of which $19.25 will be paid to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
