STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 12448 The Idaho Commission on the Arts is organizationally situated within the Office of the Secretary of State. However, the Arts Commission is appropriated funding separate from the Office of the Secretary of State. In addition, the Secretary of State does not direct the Arts Commission's operations or exercise oversight over the activities of the Arts Commission in any way. This legislation moves the Commission on the Arts out from under the Secretary of State's office and places it within the Office of the Governor. Such a move accurately reflects the Arts Commission's autonomy and eliminates possible confusion about the relationship between the Office of the Secretary of State and the Arts Commission.
