|||| LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO |||| Fifty-seventh Legislature First Regular Session - 2003IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE BILL NO. 124 BY RESOURCES AND CONSERVATION COMMITTEE 1 AN ACT 2 RELATING TO INVESTMENT OF IRRIGATION DISTRICT FUNDS; AMENDING SECTION 43-1507, 3 IDAHO CODE, TO CORRECT A CODE CITATION, TO PERMIT INVESTMENT OF SURPLUS 4 FUNDS IN CERTAIN ADDITIONAL WARRANTS OR BONDS, TO INCLUDE REFERENCE TO 5 WARRANTS AND TO MAKE TECHNICAL CORRECTIONS. 6 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 7 SECTION 1. That Section 43-1507, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby 8 amended to read as follows: 9 43-1507. INVESTMENT OF CERTAIN FUNDS AUTHORIZED. In addition to the 10 authority conferred upon the board of directors of an irrigation district by 11 section 57-601127, Idaho Code, such board shall have the authority to invest 12 the surplus funds of such district,collected for the purpose of paying an13outstanding obligation to the United States of America or for the payment of14outstanding bonds of said district or funds in an emergency fund created by15the directors,in the negotiable, general obligation bonds or other evidences 16 of indebtedness of the United States or of this state or in local improvement 17 district bonds or warrants authorized by chapter 17, title 50, or chapter 25, 18 title 43, Idaho Code, in lieu of depositing the same in designated deposito- 19 ries as provided by thePpublicDdepositoryLlaw and to dispose of such bonds, 20 warrants, or evidences of indebtedness as and when said board may direct.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 12706 This legislation would correct an outdated Idaho Code reference relating to the investment of the surplus funds of irrigation districts and would grant to irrigation districts the authority, already held by cities under Section 50-1013, Idaho Code, to invest surplus funds in local improvement district bonds or warrants in addition to other types of state or local government bonds.
