JOINT FINANCE-APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE - Amends existing law to provide
that when a Senate vacancy occurs on the Joint Finance-Appropriations
Committee during the interim when the Legislature is not in session, the
President Pro Tempore of the Senate shall appoint a senator to fill the
vacancy.

1 AN ACT
2 RELATING TO THE JOINT FINANCE-APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE; AMENDING SECTION
3 67-432, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE THAT THE PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE OF THE SEN-
4 ATE SHALL APPOINT A MEMBER TO FILL A SENATE VACANCY WHICH OCCURS ON THE
5 COMMITTEE DURING THE INTERIM WHEN THE LEGISLATURE IS NOT IN SESSION.
6 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
7 SECTION 1. That Section 67-432, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby
8 amended to read as follows:
9 67-432. JOINT FINANCE-APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE -- CREATION -- MEMBERS.
10 There is hereby created the joint finance-appropriations committee which shall
11 consist of the members of the senate finance committee and the members of the
12 house appropriations committee. Vacancies on the committee which occur during
13 the interim when the legislature is not in session shall be filled by the
14 speaker of the house and the president pro tempore of the senate, but any mem-
15 ber thus selected shall be from the same house and the same political party as
16 the member whose seat was vacated, and shall serve until the next regular leg-
17 islative session.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The purpose of this legislation is to provide that the President
Pro Tempore of the Senate shall appoint a member to fill a senate
vacancy which occurs on the committee during the interim when the
legislature is not in session.
FISCAL IMPACT
No fiscal impact to the general fund.
