Born and raised in Cincinnati, OH; graduate of the University of Montana, B.S. in chemistry; 24-year career as a naval officer and aviator, during which time accumulated 6,500 flight hours in 17 different aircraft models, completed combat tours in Vietnam, and graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School with two master’s degrees; after retirement, returned to school at the University of Idaho and graduated with a PhD. in education; 13-year career as a financial consultant with a client base of over 450 individuals and $50 million of assets under management; past member of the Moscow School Board, Idaho State Charter School Commission, and Idaho State Board of Education; past service as a court-appointed special advocate (CASA) and Guardian Ad Litem for foster children; currently raising Scottish Highlander cattle on a 40-acre ranch; serve as a member of Idaho’s Veterans, Active Duty, and Families Coordinating Council; mentor in District II Veterans Treatment Court; member of University of Idaho’s OpEd veterans assistance program; spouse: Jo; six children; three grandchildren.
