                                    HOUSE BILL NO. 616

                         BY RESOURCES AND CONSERVATION COMMITTEE

 1                                        AN ACT
 2    RELATING TO LEGISLATIVE APPROVAL FOR CERTAIN FEDERAL ACTIONS; AMENDING CHAPTER
 3        63, TITLE 67, IDAHO CODE, BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION 67-6302,  IDAHO
 4        CODE, TO REQUIRE ANY FEDERAL AGENCY TO SECURE APPROVAL FROM THE STATE LEG-
 5        ISLATURE  PRIOR TO INTRODUCING OR REINTRODUCING ANY SPECIES INTO THE STATE
 6        OF IDAHO.

 7    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

 8        SECTION 1.  That Chapter 63, Title 67, Idaho Code, be,  and  the  same  is
 9    hereby  amended  by  the addition thereto of a  NEW SECTION , to be
10    known and designated as Section 67-6302, Idaho Code, and to read as follows:

11        67-6302.  LEGISLATIVE APPROVAL REQUIRED FOR CERTAIN  FEDERAL  ACTIONS.  No
12    action  may  be taken by a federal agency including the United States fish and
13    wildlife service, or any entity acting on behalf of a  federal  agency,  which
14    introduces  or  reintroduces any species into the state of Idaho without first
15    securing the approval of the Idaho state legislature.

                          STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

    This legislation would require Federal Agencies to obtain 
    approval of the State Legislature before introducing or 
    reintroducing any species into the State of Idaho.
