                                   SENATE BILL NO. 1020

                             BY HEALTH AND WELFARE COMMITTEE

 1                                        AN ACT
 2    RELATING TO THE IDAHO BOARD OF PODIATRY; AMENDING SECTION 54-607, IDAHO  CODE,
 3        TO INCREASE THE MAXIMUM FEE FOR RENEWAL OF LICENSURE.

 4    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

 5        SECTION  1.  That  Section  54-607, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby
 6    amended to read as follows:

 7        54-607.  LICENSES -- ISSUANCE -- RENEWALS --  DISPLAY.  If  the  applicant
 8    shall  pass  a satisfactory examination, and shall show that he is a person of
 9    good moral character and he possesses  the  qualifications  required  by  this
10    chapter to entitle him to a license as a podiatrist, he shall be entitled to a
11    license  authorizing  him to practice podiatry within the state of Idaho. Said
12    successful applicant shall be issued his license by the board upon payment  of
13    the original license fee which shall be the same fee as required for renewal.
14        All  licenses to practice podiatry shall expire on the 30th day of June of
15    each year; all licensed podiatrists are entitled  to  and  shall  renew  their
16    licenses  on or before the 1st day of July of each year; and shall make appli-
17    cation therefor, accompanied by an annual renewal license fee  established  by
18    board  rule  not  to  exceed one hundred  fifty   seventy-five
19     dollars ($1 7 5 0 ) for podiatrists.  Payment  of
20    fees  herein  provided, and satisfactory evidence of having complied with con-
21    tinued education requirements as established by board rules  are  a  condition
22    precedent for issuance of a license.
23        Every  person  to  whom  a license is granted shall have such license dis-
24    played continuously in a conspicuous part of his office wherein  his  practice
25    of podiatry is conducted.
26        The  board  shall  keep  on file a register of all applicants for license,
27    rejected applicants, and licensees.
28        The fee for reinstatement of a license shall be  as  provided  in  section
29    67-2614,  Idaho  Code.  All  fees  shall be paid to the bureau of occupational
30    licenses.

FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund.
It is necessary to increase the annual renewal fee by $25.00 ir,
order to implement the Patient Freedom cf Information Act that
will be effective January, 2000.
Anticipated revenue from the $25.00 increase:
64 licensed podiatrists X $25.00 = $1600.00
