                                   SENATE BILL NO. 1050

                                  BY EDUCATION COMMITTEE

 1                                        AN ACT
 2    RELATING TO CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS; AMENDING  CHAPTER  15,  TITLE  18,
 3        IDAHO  CODE, BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION 18-1522, IDAHO CODE, TO PRO-
 4        VIDE A CRIMINAL OFFENSE FOR UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY OF A SCHOOL BUS.

 5    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

 6        SECTION 1.  That Chapter 15, Title 18, Idaho Code, be,  and  the  same  is
 7    hereby  amended  by  the addition thereto of a  NEW SECTION , to be
 8    known and designated as Section 18-1522, Idaho Code, and to read as follows:

 9        18-1522.  UNAUTHORIZED SCHOOL BUS ENTRY -- NOTICE. (1) A person  shall  be
10    guilty of a misdemeanor if that person:
11        (a)  Enters a school bus with intent to commit a crime;
12        (b)  Enters a school bus and disrupts or interferes with the driver; or
13        (c)  Enters  a  school bus and refuses to disembark after being ordered to
14        do so by the driver.
15        (2)  School districts shall place notices at the entrance to school  buses
16    which warn against unauthorized school bus entry.

The purpose of this legislation is to amend Chapter 15, Title 18, Idaho Code, to provide for a
criminal offense for unauthorized entry of a school bus.

                             FISCAL IMPACT

Fiscal impacts would include normal enforcement activities only.
