                                   SENATE BILL NO. 1266

                                   BY FINANCE COMMITTEE

 1                                        AN ACT
 2    APPROPRIATING MONEYS TO THE SUPREME COURT FOR FISCAL YEAR 2000;  APPROPRIATING
 3        MONEYS FROM THE GENERAL FUND TO THE GUARDIAN AD LITEM FUND; AND EXPRESSING
 4        LEGISLATIVE INTENT WITH RESPECT TO CERTAIN EXPENDITURES.

 5    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

 6        SECTION 1.  There is hereby appropriated to the Supreme Court, the follow-
 7    ing amounts, to be expended from the listed funds for the period July 1, 1999,
 8    through June 30, 2000:

16        SECTION 2.  There is hereby appropriated $451,200 from the General Fund to
17    be  deposited  in  the  Guardian  Ad  Litem  Fund for the period July 1, 1999,
18    through June 30, 2000.

19        SECTION 3.  It is legislative intent that of the  amount  appropriated  in
20    Section  1 of this act, an amount not to exceed $5,000 may be used at the dis-
21    cretion of the Chief Justice, to assist in defraying expenses relating  to  or
22    resulting  from  the  discharge of the Supreme Court Justices' official duties
23    and the official duties of the  Supreme  Court.  Further,  it  is  legislative
24    intent that an amount, not to exceed $1,500 of the amount appropriated in Sec-
25    tion  1  of  this act, may be used at the discretion of the Chief Judge of the
26    Court of Appeals to assist in defraying expenses relating to or resulting from
27    the discharge of the Court of Appeals Judges' official duties and the official
28    duties of the Court of Appeals. Such moneys shall be accounted  for  according
29    to  the  provisions  of Chapter 36, Title 67, Idaho Code, and Section 67-3516,
30    Idaho Code.

                                        STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

                                               SB 1266

This is the fiscal year 2000 appropriation bill for the Judicial Branch.  The Judicial
Branch includes the Idaho Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, District Courts, Magistrate
Division, Law Library, Judicial Council, Snake River Adjudication, and the Guardian Ad
Litem program.
