                                    HOUSE BILL NO. 57

 1                                        AN ACT
 2    RELATING TO HIGHWAYS; AMENDING CHAPTER 2, TITLE 40, IDAHO CODE, BY  THE  ADDI-
 3        TION  OF A NEW SECTION 40-210, IDAHO CODE, TO DESIGNATE U.S. HIGHWAY 95 AS
 4        THE VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY.

 5    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

 6        SECTION 1.  That Chapter 2, Title 40, Idaho Code,  be,  and  the  same  is
 7    hereby  amended  by  the addition thereto of a  NEW SECTION , to be
 8    known and designated as Section 40-210, Idaho Code, and to read as follows:

 9        40-210.  U.S. HIGHWAY 95 DESIGNATED AS VETERANS MEMORIAL  HIGHWAY.  United
10    States Highway 95, from its entrance into the state at the Oregon border until
11    it  intersects  the Canadian border, shall be known and designated as the Vet-
12    erans Memorial Highway in honor of all veterans who  served  our  country  and
13    lost  their  lives  during  such  service. The Idaho transportation department
14    shall post suitable markers along U.S. Highway 95 indicating  its  designation
15    as the Veterans Memorial Highway.

                       STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

This legislation establishes U.S. Highway 95 as the "Veterans
Memorial Highway" to honor those persons who served in the armed
forces during World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict and
the Vietnam Conflict and provides for signs designating this
highway as the "Veterans Memorial Highway."
                          FISCAL NOTE
There would be a fiscal impact of $130 per sign installed by the
Idaho Transportation Department.
