5 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
6 SECTION 1. In addition to any other appropriation, there is hereby appro-
7 priated to the State Board of Education, to meet the health and safety issues
8 identified at Troy High School and to be expended under the conditions speci-
9 fied, $1,000,000. The Board is authorized and directed to transmit the total
10 amount of this appropriation to the Whitepine Joint School District as a
11 matching grant for the purpose of building a new high school in the district,
12 at any location within the district determined by the Board of Trustees, upon
13 notification by the Board of Trustees that the electors of the district have
14 approved a bond in an amount sufficient to pay the cost of the new school less
15 the amount of this grant. Notwithstanding the provisions of law, this appro-
16 priation shall remain available to the Whitepine Joint School District for two
17 (2) years, until June 30, 2001.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The purpose of this legislation is to provide matching funds to the Whitepine Joint
School District to replace an old, unsafe high school at Troy, Idaho. The money will not
be available unless the electors of the district have approved a bond to pay the
remainder of the costs. If the bond has not been approved by June 30, 2001, the
money will revert to the General Fund.
There will be a $1,000,000 impact to the General Fund should the Whitepine Joint
School District approve the appropriate bond levy.
