Statement of Purpose / Fiscal Impact

                          STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
                                RS 09197

In January of 1964, Mardee Wyman was hired by the first director of
the Legislative Council to be the first support staffer for the
Legislative Council - the precursor to today's nonpartisan
Legislative Services Office. During her 35 years of service to the
Idaho Legislature, there have been enormous changes in technology
and the level of staff support to legislators. One constant,
however, has been Mardee Wyman's unswerving loyalty to the
legislative institution and the quality of her professional and
caring service to individual legislators. As the longest-serving
legislative employee, Mardee Wyman has demonstrated a unique spirit
of public service that has contributed to the values of Idaho's
citizen legislature.

This resolution recognizes, honors and commends Mardee Wyman for
her years of service to the Idaho Legislature on the occasion of
her planned retirement in August 1999.
