S1326|||| LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO |||| Fifty-fifth Legislature Second Regular Session - 2000IN THE SENATE SENATE BILL NO. 1326 BY SCHROEDER 1 AN ACT 2 RELATING TO TEACHER, ADMINISTRATOR AND CLASSIFIED STAFF SALARIES; AMENDING 3 CHAPTER 10, TITLE 33, IDAHO CODE, BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION 4 33-1004B, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE THAT DISTRICT STAFF SHALL BE PAID A MINI- 5 MUM SALARY BASED ON A PORTION OF THE CALCULATION USED FOR DETERMINING A 6 DISTRICT'S SALARY-BASED APPORTIONMENT FROM THE EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT PRO- 7 GRAM; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. 8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 9 SECTION 1. That Chapter 10, Title 33, Idaho Code, be, and the same is 10 hereby amended by the addition thereto of a NEW SECTION, to be known and des- 11 ignated as Section 33-1004B, Idaho Code, and to read as follows: 12 33-1004B. ENTITLEMENT OF INSTRUCTIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF TO MINI- 13 MUM SALARY BASED ON EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION -- ENTITLEMENT OF CLASSIFIED 14 STAFF TO MINIMUM SALARY. (1) Each school district's apportionment from the 15 state educational support program includes funds for support of staff sala- 16 ries. This salary-based apportionment for instructional and administrative 17 staff is determined, in part, by assigning a multiplier to each certificated 18 staff position based on each employee's experience and education using the 19 chart in section 33-1004A, Idaho Code. Once the employee's multiplier has been 20 determined, that number is multiplied by the appropriate base salary, either 21 instructional or administrative, as provided in section 33-1004E, Idaho Code, 22 to obtain an individual base salary. 23 (2) Each school district shall pay to each instructional and administra- 24 tive staff member, at a minimum, the individual base salary as computed using 25 the calculation in subsection (1) of this section. 26 (3) Each school district shall pay to each classified staff, at a mini- 27 mum, the base salary as specified in subsection 3. of section 33-1004E, Idaho 28 Code. 29 SECTION 2. This act shall be in full force and effect on and after July 30 1, 2000.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 09582 The purpose of this legislation is to amend Chapter 10, Title 33, Idaho Code, by the addition of anew section to provide that district instructional and administrative staff and classified staff shall receive, as a minimum, the amount of money provided by the state educational support program pursuant to Chapter 10, Title 33, Section 33-1004A and Section 33-1004E. FISCAL IMPACT There is no impact to the General Fund. School districts that are currently paying staff less than the amount received from the state educational support program for these employees may have to redirect some expenditures.
