S1368|||| LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO |||| Fifty-fifth Legislature Second Regular Session - 2000IN THE SENATE SENATE BILL NO. 1368 BY TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE 1 AN ACT 2 RELATING TO THE MULTISTATE HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION AGREEMENT; REPEALING CHAPTER 3 19, TITLE 49, IDAHO CODE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. 4 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 5 SECTION 1. That Chapter 19, Title 49, Idaho Code, be, and the same is 6 hereby repealed. 7 SECTION 2. This act shall be in full force and effect on and after July 8 1, 2000.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 09549 This legislation repeals the Multi-State Highway Transportation Agreement. Law allows Idaho to withdraw with written 30-day notice once law is repealed. This agreement commits Idaho to the state goals of the agreement which include promotion of higher weight limits on all Idaho roads. This agreement also promoted a congressional compact which potentially surrenders Idaho sovereignty of size and weight limits on trucks to the compact. FISCAL NOTE Net savings of cost of annual membership of $5,000, plus cost of attending meetings of House, Senate and Transportation Department personnel.
