  2    APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL MONEYS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH  AND  WELFARE  FOR
  3        FAMILY  AND  COMMUNITY SERVICES FOR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR FISCAL YEAR
  4        2001.
                                                                        
  5    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
                                                                        
  6        SECTION 1.  In addition to any other appropriation for fiscal  year  2001,
  7    there  is hereby appropriated to the Department of Health and Welfare for Fam-
  8    ily and Community Services for Mental Health Services $625,000 from  the  Gen-
  9    eral Fund for the period July 1, 2000, through June 30, 2001.

Statement of Purpose / Fiscal Impact


Statement of Purpose
RS10363

Appropriates additional moneys to the Department of Health and Welfare for Family and Community Services for Mental Health Services for fiscal year 2001. This appropriation is in response to passage of House Bill 579a, which transferred financial responsibility for mental health care of individuals committed to Health and Welfare from the counties to the department the day following court commitment. Prior to the passage of House Bill 579a, it was a county responsibility.

Fiscal Note

Appropriates $625,000 from the General Fund for mental health services for fiscal year 2001. Costs in fiscal year 2002 are estimated to be $837,000.
