|||| LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO ||||
Fifty-fifth Legislature Second Regular Session - 2000
IN THE SENATE
SENATE BILL NO. 1368
BY TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE
1 AN ACT
2 RELATING TO THE MULTISTATE HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION AGREEMENT; REPEALING CHAPTER
3 19, TITLE 49, IDAHO CODE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
4 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
5 SECTION 1. That Chapter 19, Title 49, Idaho Code, be, and the same is
6 hereby repealed.
7 SECTION 2. This act shall be in full force and effect on and after July
8 1, 2000.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS 09549
This legislation repeals the Multi-State Highway Transportation Agreement. Law
allows Idaho to withdraw with written 30-day notice once law is repealed. This
agreement commits Idaho to the state goals of the agreement which include
promotion of higher weight limits on all Idaho roads. This agreement also
promoted a congressional compact which potentially surrenders Idaho sovereignty
of size and weight limits on trucks to the compact.
FISCAL NOTE
Net savings of cost of annual membership of $5,000, plus cost of attending
meetings of House, Senate and Transportation Department personnel.
