  1                                        AN ACT
  2    RELATING TO ELECTRICIANS; AMENDING SECTION 54-1001, IDAHO CODE, TO INCORPORATE
  3        THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL SAFETY CODE OF 1997, TO MAKE A  TECHNICAL  CORREC-
  4        TION  AND  TO  PROVIDE THAT THE NATIONAL ELECTRIC SAFETY CODE SHALL GOVERN
  5        ELECTRICAL TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION FACILITIES.
                                                                        
  6    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
                                                                        
  7        SECTION 1.  That Section 54-1001, Idaho Code, be, and the same  is  hereby
  8    amended to read as follows:
                                                                        
  9        54-1001.  DECLARATION  OF POLICY. From and after the taking effect of this
 10    act, all installations in the state of Idaho of wires and equipment to  convey
 11    electric  current  and  installations of apparatus to be operated by such cur-
 12    rent, except as hereinafter provided, shall be made  substantially  in  accord
 13    with  the  National  Electrical Code of 1971 or the National Electrical Safety
 14    Code of 1997, as approved by the American National Standards Institute, relat-
 15    ing to such work as far as the same cover both fire and personal  injury  haz-
 16    ards, and as the National Electrical Code and National Electrical Safety Code,
 17    shall  be  amended,  revised,  compiled and published from time to time and as
 18    such amendments or revisions are adopted by the Idaho electrical board.
 19        The National Electrical Safety Code shall govern  electrical  transmission
 20    and distribution facilities.
