  1                                        AN ACT
  2    RELATING TO SALARIES OF MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC  UTILITIES  COMMISSION  AND  THE
  3        INDUSTRIAL  COMMISSION;  AMENDING SECTION 61-215, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE A
  4        SALARY INCREASE; AND AMENDING SECTION 72-503, IDAHO  CODE,  TO  PROVIDE  A
  5        SALARY INCREASE.
                                                                        
  6    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
                                                                        
  7        SECTION  1.  That  Section  61-215, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby
  8    amended to read as follows:
                                                                        
  9        61-215.  SALARIES OF PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSIONERS. Each  member  of  the
 10    public  utilities  commission  shall  devote  full  time to the performance of
 11    his/her duties. Commencing on July 1, 1999 2000, the annual salary of  members
 12    of  the  public  utilities  commission shall be seventy-fiveseven thousand six
 13    hundred twenty-five dollars ($75,0007,625), which amount shall be increased on
 14    July 1, 20001, by three four and one-half percent (34 1/2%), and shall be paid
 15    from sources set by the legislature.
                                                                        
 16        SECTION 2.  That Section 72-503, Idaho Code, be, and the  same  is  hereby
 17    amended to read as follows:
                                                                        
 18        72-503.  SALARY.  Commencing  July 1, 1999 2000, the annual salary of each
 19    member of the industrial commission shall be seventy-three five thousand  five
 20    hundred  fifty-five dollars ($73,0005,555), which amount shall be increased on
 21    July 1, 20001, by three four and one-half percent (34 1/2%).  Industrial  com-
 22    missioner  salaries  shall  be  paid from sources set by the legislature. Each
 23    member of the industrial commission shall devote full time to the  performance
 24    of his duties.

Statement of Purpose / Fiscal Impact


                      STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
                            RS 11079

This legislation increases the annual salaries of Public Utilities
Commissioners and Industrial Commissioners by 4 «% on July 1, 2001.


                         FISCAL IMPACT

There is no adverse impact to the state general fund.  The Public
Utilities Commissioners and Industrial Commissioners are paid from
separate dedicated funds.  The impact to the Public Utilities Fund
is $12,600.  The impact to the Industrial Administration Fund is
$12,235.
