STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS 11227C2
This legislation increases the base annual salary of the four
State Tax Commissioners from $65,000 to $67,275 and indexes the
base by 4.5% on July 1, 2001.
The State Tax Commission is responsible for the administration and
collection of $2.3 billion in annual tax revenues for the state.
It has successfully implemented new programs designed to reduce
the tax gap in Idaho and increase tax equity. Furthermore, the
Commission has responsibility to supervise the advalorem tax
systems established in the counties and other taxing districts of
the state. Commission compliance efforts bring to the state over
$93,500,000 per year.
FISCAL IMPACT
The incremental salary outlay for FY2002 is $14,500. Of this
total, $12,100 is salary increase; $2,400 is related benefits.
$13,100 is from General Fund revenues; $1,400 is from motor fuels
tax revenues.
