ADJUTANT GENERAL - Amends existing law to provide that one of the duties of
the adjutant general shall be to coordinate the planning and execution of
state activities pertaining to the inauguration of the governor and other
elected state executive officers.

SPEAKER Requested by: Division of Military 1 AN ACT 2 RELATING TO THE STATE MILITIA; AMENDING SECTION 46-112, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE 3 ADDITIONAL DUTIES FOR THE ADJUTANT GENERAL. 4 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 5 SECTION 1. That Section 46-112, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby 6 amended to read as follows: 7 46-112. DUTIES OF THE ADJUTANT GENERAL. The duties of the adjutant gen- 8 eral are: 9 (1) To be chief of staff to the commander-in-chief and administrative 10 head of the military division of the office of governor. 11 (2) To be custodian of all military records and property of the national 12 guard and organized militia. 13 (3) To publish and distribute all orders from the governor as commander- 14 in-chief and perform such other duties as the governor may direct. 15 (4) Subject to the provisions of section 67-5303(j), Idaho Code, to 16 employ such clerical and other personnel as may be required in the military 17 division of the office of the governor. 18 (5) To pay the members of the national guard when such members are to be 19 paid from state funds. 20 (6) To attend to the care, maintenance, repair and safekeeping of all 21 federal equipment issued to the state of Idaho for the use of the national 22 guard. 23 (7) To be custodian of the seal of the office of adjutant general and to 24 deliver the same to his successor. 25 (8) To organize such units and recruit such personnel, with the consent 26 of the governor, as may be authorized by federal law and regulations, and as 27 may be required for the security of the state of Idaho. 28 (9) To supervise the training of the national guard and the organized 29 militia. 30 (10) To make such returns and reports as may be required by the federal 31 laws and regulations. 32 (11) To coordinate the planning and execution of state activities pertain- 33 ing to the inauguration of the governor of the state of Idaho and the other 34 elected state executive officers.

This proposal amends I.C. 46-112 by adding a new duty for the
adjutant general to coordinate the planning and execution of state
activities for the inauguration of the governor and other elected
state executive officers.
