  1                                        AN ACT
  2    RELATING TO PURCHASES OF LAND BY THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT;  AMENDING  SEC-
  3        TION  58-702, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE THAT  TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT POSSIBLE,
  4        THE UNITED STATES SHALL COORDINATE ITS  REAL  PROPERTY  ACQUISITIONS  WITH
  5        THE  BOARD  OF  COUNTY  COMMISSIONERS  OF  THE COUNTY IN WHICH THE LAND IS
  6        LOCATED.
                                                                        
  7    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
                                                                        
  8        SECTION 1.  That Section 58-702, Idaho Code, be, and the  same  is  hereby
  9    amended to read as follows:
                                                                        
 10        58-702.  CONSENT  TO PURCHASES BY UNITED STATES -- JURISDICTION FOR EXECU-
 11    TION OF PROCESS RESERVED -- COORDINATION WITH COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.  (1)  Con-
 12    sent  is  given to any purchase already made or that may hereafter be made, by
 13    the government of the United States, of any lots, or tracts  of  land,  within
 14    this  state, for the use of such government, and to erect thereon and use such
 15    buildings, or other improvements, as may be deemed necessary by  said  govern-
 16    ment; and over such lands and the buildings, or improvements, that are, or may
 17    be,  erected thereon, the said government shall have entire control and juris-
 18    diction, except that the state shall have jurisdiction to execute thereon  all
 19    process,  civil  or criminal, lawfully issued by the courts of this state, and
 20    not incompatible with this cession.
 21        (2)  To the maximum extent possible, the United  States  shall  coordinate
 22    its  real property acquisitions with  the board of county commissioners of the
 23    county in which the land is located.

Statement of Purpose / Fiscal Impact


                       STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The purpose of this legislation would be to give as much notice
as possible to a county when property is purchased by the

 U. S. Government and their property tax role takes an adjustment.
