  1                                        AN ACT
  2    APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL MONEYS TO THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION AND THE  BOARD
  3        OF REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO FOR FISCAL YEAR 2002.
                                                                        
  4    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
                                                                        
  5        SECTION 1.  In addition to the appropriation made in Section 1, House Bill
  6    No. 330, as enacted by the First Regular Session of the Fifty-sixth Idaho Leg-
  7    islature, there is hereby appropriated to the State Board of Education and the
  8    Board  of Regents of the University of Idaho the sum of $500,000 from the Gen-
  9    eral Fund for the period July 1, 2001, through June  30,  2002.  These  moneys
 10    shall  be used for the endowment land exchange as authorized in House Bill No.
 11    348, as enacted by the First Regular Session of the Fifty-sixth Idaho Legisla-
 12    ture.

Statement of Purpose

This is a trailer appropriation bill for HB 348. That bill has already been passed by both the House and the Senate. HB 348 directs the State Board of Education, on behalf of Idaho State University and the University of Idaho, to acquire property of equivalent value to that of 19.27 acres of public school endowment land that is adjacent to the Idaho Falls Center for Higher Education. The lands acquired with this appropriation will be exchanged for those public school endowment lands for the benefit of the Idaho Falls Center for Higher Education.

Fiscal Note

This bill adds $500,000 in one-time General Fund money to the FY 2002 College & Universities appropriation.
