  1                                        AN ACT
  2    RELATING TO THE CRIME OF LIBEL; AMENDING SECTION 18-4801, IDAHO CODE, TO  FUR-
  3        THER DEFINE "LIBEL."
                                                                        
  4    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
                                                                        
  5        SECTION  1.  That  Section 18-4801, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby
  6    amended to read as follows:
                                                                        
  7        18-4801.  LIBEL DEFINED. A libel  is  a  malicious  defamation,  expressed
  8    either  by  writing, printing, or by signs or pictures, or by electronic means
  9    on the internet, electronic bulletin board, chat room, message board  or other
 10    place, or the like, tending to blacken the memory of one who is  dead,  or  to
 11    impeach  the  honesty, integrity, virtue or reputation, or publish the natural
 12    or alleged defects, of one who is alive, and thereby to expose him  to  public
 13    hatred, contempt or ridicule.
