]]]] LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO ]]]] Fifty-ninth Legislature First Regular Session - 2007IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 6 BY STATE AFFAIRS COMMITTEE 1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 2 STATING FINDINGS OF THE LEGISLATURE AND PROCLAIMING JANUARY 18, 2007, AS 3 "IDAHO NONPROFIT DAY." 4 Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Idaho: 5 WHEREAS, nonprofit organizations help build and sustain healthy communi- 6 ties in our state and enhance the quality of life for Idahoans and for others 7 throughout the country and the world; and 8 WHEREAS, the thousands of nonprofit organizations based in Idaho contrib- 9 ute significantly to a viable economy by providing Idahoans with jobs, goods, 10 and services with expenditures of more than $1.7 billion in 2004; and 11 WHEREAS, by every measure, Idaho's nonprofits have grown dramatically 12 increasing by fourteen percent between 2002 and 2004, faster than Idaho's pop- 13 ulation is growing; and 14 WHEREAS, Idaho's nonprofits are often entrepreneurs, creating new solu- 15 tions to problems and filling previously unmet needs in the areas of health, 16 recreation, education, research, arts, social services and more; and 17 WHEREAS, the nonprofit sector works as a responsible partner with private 18 enterprise and government to alleviate the most pressing social issues of our 19 time; and 20 WHEREAS, Idahoans have one of the highest rates of volunteerism in the 21 nation, thus providing opportunities for leadership, civic engagement and 22 building communities; and 23 WHEREAS, the nonprofit sector acts as a responsible steward of charitable 24 dollars to achieve a diverse range of missions and goals; and 25 WHEREAS, nonprofit organizations often fulfill their missions by advocat- 26 ing on behalf of those who cannot advocate for themselves; and 27 WHEREAS, the nonprofit sector throughout Idaho has a proud history of ser- 28 vice, innovation and social change; and 29 WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the nonprofit sector deserve acknowledg- 30 ment, affirmation and celebration. 31 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the members of the First Regular Session 32 of the Fifty-ninth Idaho Legislature, the House of Representatives and the 33 Senate concurring therein, that the Idaho State Legislature proclaims January 34 18, 2007, as "Idaho Nonprofit Day."
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE RS 16646 This legislation establishes a day of statewide recognition for Idaho's nonprofit organizations. To acknowledge the nonprofit sector's proud history of service, innovation, and social change, and to celebrate Idahoans strong sense of civic duty, this legislation shall establish January 18, 2007, as "Idaho Nonprofit Day."
