STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
RS 17569
When license and tag fees were increased in 2005, Resident cougar
tags were increased by 10%, from $9.00 to 9.75, along with other
resident licenses and tags. Non-resident cougar tags were
decreased from $233.50 to $150, instead of being increased by 10%
as were most other tags and fees. This bill corrects that
mistake by adding 10% to the $233.50 pre-2005 fee and
establishing the non-resident cougar tag at $256.75, the same
percentage increase as resident cougar tags in 2005.
FISCAL NOTE
Based on data from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, during
the last 10 years Idaho has sold an average of 723 non-resident
cougar tags annually. During the last 5 years, Idaho has sold an
average of 778 cougar tags annually. Assuming tag sales stay
constant, and based on past sales data, IDFG can expect an
increase to their budget of between $77,180.25 and $83,051.50.
