  2    RELATING TO THE APPROPRIATION  TO  THE  DEPARTMENT  OF  JUVENILE  CORRECTIONS;
  3        AMENDING SECTION 1, CHAPTER 268, LAWS OF 2007, TO REVISE THE APPROPRIATION
  4        TO  THE  DEPARTMENT OF JUVENILE CORRECTIONS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2008; AMENDING
  5        SECTION 2, CHAPTER 268, LAWS OF 2007, TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF AUTHORIZED
  6        FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT POSITIONS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF JUVENILE  CORRECTIONS
  7        FOR FISCAL YEAR 2008; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

  8    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

  9        SECTION  1.  That  Section 1, Chapter 268, Laws of 2007, is hereby amended
 10    to read as follows:

 11        SECTION 1.  There is hereby appropriated to  the  Department  of  Juvenile
 12    Corrections  the  following amounts to be expended for the designated programs
 13    according to the designated expense classes from  the  listed  funds  for  the
 14    period July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008:

 35        SECTION  2.  That  Section 2, Chapter 268, Laws of 2007, is hereby amended
 36    to read as follows:

 37        SECTION 2.  In accordance with Section 67-3519, Idaho Code, the Department
 38    of Juvenile Corrections is authorized no more than three hundred sixty-one and
 39    seventy-five hundredths (3601.75) full-time equivalent positions at any  point
 40    during the period July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008, for the programs speci-
 41    fied in Section 1 of this act, unless specifically authorized by the Governor.
 42    The  Joint  Finance-Appropriations  Committee will be notified promptly of any
 43    increased positions so authorized.

 44        SECTION 3.  An emergency existing  therefor,  which  emergency  is  hereby
 45    declared to exist, this act shall be in full force and effect on and after its
 46    passage and approval.

Statement of Purpose / Fiscal Impact


Statement of Purpose
RS17636

This is a FY 2008 supplemental appropriation for the Department of Juvenile Corrections. This appropriation bill includes funding for an administrative assistant position to manage the recently established Interstate Compact Agreement. The bill also includes one-time funding to move the Department of Juvenile Corrections’ main office to the 1st floor of the state-owned building the agency currently occupies and consolidate all headquarters staff within the Treasure Valley into one location.

Fiscal Note

This appropriations bill increases the Department of Juvenile Corrections budget by 1.0 FTP and $2,200 in General Fund monies.
