1 A HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 EXPRESSING THE SUPPORT OF THE IDAHO HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FOR "OPERATION
3 ENDURING SUPPORT."
4 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Idaho:
5 WHEREAS, thousands of American servicemen and women are risking their
6 lives in defending the interests and principles of the United States of Amer-
7 ica; and
8 WHEREAS, these American troops, including many from the state of Idaho,
9 are performing with remarkable success against Saddam Hussein and his
10 military-industrial complex; and
11 WHEREAS, all citizens of the state of Idaho should take great pride in the
12 manner in which our brave servicemen and women are representing our Nation in
13 the Middle East; and
14 WHEREAS, all Americans eagerly await a successful and expedient conclusion
15 to the war in Iraq and the safe return of our courageous men and women serving
16 in the Persian Gulf region.
17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED on this first day of April by the members
18 of the House of Representatives, assembled in the First Regular Session of the
19 Fifty-seventh Idaho Legislature, that we do strongly support and endorse
20 "OPERATION ENDURING SUPPORT" as a national grassroots effort to support our
21 servicemen and women participating in "OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM" and their fam-
22 ilies here at home; and we encourage state and local governments and private
23 businesses and industry to organize "OPERATION ENDURING SUPPORT" task forces
24 intended to provide support for the families of the troops while they are
25 deployed and to plan and organize welcome home celebrations for the servicemen
26 and women upon their arrival home.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The purpose of this resolution is to urge all Idaho communities,
businesses, schools and residents of the State of Idaho to
support the families of the men and women of our armed forces
serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. We encourage all to proudly
display an American flag, wear or tie a yellow ribbon in show of
support and to stage welcome home rallies and parades in a united
effort to be known as OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund.
