SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 104
BY STATE AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION
2 EXPRESSING THE SUPPORT OF THE IDAHO SENATE FOR "OPERATION ENDURING SUPPORT."
3 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Idaho:
4 WHEREAS, thousands of American servicemen and women are risking their
5 lives in defending the interests and principles of the United States of Amer-
6 ica; and
7 WHEREAS, these American troops, including many from the state of Idaho,
8 are performing with remarkable success against Saddam Hussein and his
9 military-industrial complex; and
10 WHEREAS, all citizens of the state of Idaho should take great pride in the
11 manner in which our brave servicemen and women are representing our Nation in
12 the Middle East; and
13 WHEREAS, all Americans eagerly await a successful and expedient conclusion
14 to the war in Iraq and the safe return of our courageous men and women serving
15 in the Persian Gulf region.
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED on this first day of April by the members
17 of the Senate, assembled in the First Regular Session of the Fifty-seventh
18 Idaho Legislature, that we do strongly support and endorse "OPERATION ENDURING
19 SUPPORT" as a national grassroots effort to support our servicemen and women
20 participating in "OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM" and their families here at home;
21 and we encourage state and local governments and private businesses and indus-
22 try to organize "OPERATION ENDURING SUPPORT" task forces intended to provide
23 support for the families of the troops while they are deployed and to plan and
24 organize welcome home celebrations for the servicemen and women upon their
25 arrival home.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The purpose of this resolution is to urge all Idaho communities,
businesses, schools and residents of the State of Idaho to
support the families of the men and women of our armed forces
serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. We encourage all to proudly
display an American Flag, wear or tie a yellow ribbon in show of
support and to stage welcome home rallies and parades in a united
effort to be known as OPERATION ENDURING SUPPORT.
